I've been wanting this movie on DVD for years now and I finally got a chance to pick up a copy from eBay. I've seen it many times and it is more powerful everytime I see it. What strikes me though is so soon after Ferris Beuller's Day Off, Matthew Broderick provides such a powerful performance. His performance along with Denzel, Freeman, and to a less extent Elwes just makes this movie golden.

Easily one of my favorites :p

Wife told me that the narration by Broderick in that movie was actually the "guy in real life" 's letters home to his mother.

I never researched it myself to verify it....but she read it after she watched it w/ me one day. Made it very powerful to me after that. Plus....Denzel was amazing, and it also helps it's one of my top 10 favorite scores too.

Great movie. Easily in my top 10. Non sci fi...it's top 3.

I'm sorry, but that is bullsh!t...plain and simple.

FBDO is a funny, witty 80's flick. Glory is an excellent drama about the Civil War and black Union soldiers. FBDO made Matthew a star, but Glory shows his chops as an actor.

FBDO made broderick what he is. Glory carried itself with the powerful story.

Broderick is some producers love b!tch to make him a star in FBDO and that is IT.

Haha, Godzilla and Inspector gadget shot holes in his career:p

"The Producers" patched him up real good though :D

Bilouxi blues was very funny IMO.

One can't think of Matthew Broderick without thinking of the cable guy. A completely not funny movie, with the sole exception of the hilariouis Middle Ages scenes.

He peaked in Wargames. FB was a great film, but I don't know that it was a great performance.

Andre Braugher's performance was my favorite in Glory. It's too bad his career didn't get as big as the other actors in the movie.

Fantastic movie!

Thomas: [crying aftering getting swatted with a rifle] "Robert, may I speak to you for a moment"
Colonel Shaw: "Enlisted men must go through proper channels before speaking to their superior"
Thomas: [sucking it up] "Yessssss....sir"

Very powerful exchange of words between friends
