Movie file format for Droid tablet

I've recently acquired a Nook Color which I intend to root over to be full-Droid. I want to put movies/prerecorded TV on there and was wondering what is the best file format due to the storage limitations? And what tool do you recommend to use for converting (from VOB file format)?
Since the screen is only 7+ inches, obviously picture quality isn't a big deal so I ought to be able to shrink it down substantially. Recommendations?

As a Nook Color owner myself (running CM7) I can tell you that the Nook Color is VERY particular with how its videos are encoded. For example nothing can be larger than 854×480. The best program BY FAR to convert programs for the Nook Color is Handbrake (Free, open source).

Here is a guide to use:

That guide also recommends the great Mobo Player, which will be available in the market when you put CM7 on it.

Please note that all my combined Nook Color knowledge is in the sticky thread at the top of this forum. Look there for how to install CM7, get Netflix working, etc. If you need help, just PM me.

All Droids are Android phones, but not all Android devices are Droids.

That being said, I second Handbrake. Great encoding program with tons of options to control file output.

Hey poofy, why can't the nook handle video files encoded to it's native resolution?
