Hello all.
My friend just bought a digital camcorder and after he figures out how to transfer those movies into his PC, he wanted to know whats a good Movie Editor to do some simple editing, like adding text or pictures and similar noobie staff into it..

If there's any free software to do this simple staff... i think that would be the solution..
But he might also be willing to pay a reasonable price if no free ones are available.

Anything u guys recommend ?

p.s. i personally dont deal with movie editing :\

The $52 Leadtek tuner/video-capture card might kill two birds with one stone. It comes with some lite versions of Ulead software and should provide the means of getting the video into the computer. Or there's Windows Movie Maker 2 (with WinXP SP2) if he has the hardware already.

My 74-year-old dad is embarking on the same video-editing journey and I don't know much about it either. Maybe he'll give me some tips once he figures it out :D You should see the guy at spreadsheets, he knocks me flat with his talent. Never underestimate an old railroad man with a couple years of high-school education...

Oh, and a related item I got for Dad: S-Video/audio cable to connect the camcorder's S-Video output, and I had to go get an RCA-to-1/8"-mini adapter for the audio at Radio Shack for an obscene price :frown:
