Have you seen it?
You should.
Its a funny movie yet its not funny at all. And everyone should watch it.

Leonardo DiCaprio
Jennifer Lawrence
Meryl Streep

A planet killer is heading for earth but this *fact* is just one fact among many facts, it get politicized and, well, just watch it. Get your Q cousins to watch it.

its the planet killer that is going to hit 2022 2024

Watched it last night. Pretty grim movie actually, I'm not the brightest bulb in the chandelier, but even I figured out most of it's intent. I doubt certain people will realize the irony behind the plot...

I liked it and you can replace the asteroid with pretty much anything we are facing today.

Usually movies with this many stars don’t work too well but everyone played their parts well.

When I read it was a story about a warning ignored I figured right away it was about the end of democracy, but I wouldn't call that so much sarcasm as allegory.

Humanity is asleep to reality, living in an upside down dream and there are lots of people who know it

I had my big conscious realization of this when I was about 7 or 8 when I was the Day the Earth Stood Still original.

OP you might mention it is currently streaming on Netflix. It looks interesting enough that I'll probably give it a watch.

Brilliant movie.

Watched it with two Trumpers at our annual Christmas day party last night. (We host single neighbors who are alone on Christmas)

It was amazing how they at first tried to use the movie to validate their side... They are, after all, denialists... until the political rallies with slogan hats finally made it all too obvious.

Needless top say, they were a bit triggered.

I think the movie almost perfectly (it was far too kind) captured the absurdity of Trumpism and the reality denialism cult that has taken over the GQP.

I think some are rebuking it for being a little too obnoxious satire, not subtle or overly clever, but I think that's the point. It's supposed to be ludicrously obnoxious for obvious reasons.

Looking in a mirror can often be painful.
Your second post makes the post above very telling...

Not to mention "party" to watch a 2+ hour movie... hope you all didn't get the cops called on you by the neighbors for being too rowdy...

I had no clue that it was basically a play on the last presedency as well as what our current society looks like. I thought it was like Armageddon or something. Watched it last night and it only got better and better lol.

Best part was Jennifer Lawrence's haircut.

Just watched it. It's too ridiculous to work either as comedy or as good social satire. Humor has to be a little closer to the real world than this to be funny. And social commentary doesn't come across when it's too absurd to be taken seriously.

Kind of a wasted opportunity. A good premise and good cast. I agree with McKay's ideas but this wasn't the best vehicle for them.
