now for the questions:

SPOILERSs

the shakey camera didn't affect me, but my friend did complain about it; and I sat way back while he was up front.

and what's with the burning cow thing? and the girl mentioned about cutting off their titis too?

i also didn't understand the "expel all immigrant" thing. The "work force" dilemma shouldn't be a problem/reason because, since humanity will all extinct in a few more decades, who cares about a work force. (and why do people even want to work anyway)

I also noticed all the men died (except Clive's rich cousin.) But someone above made a better thought about "all the people that came in contact with Kee died."

another good observation by you guys was the "first baby born was in Africa" thing. Theo said something to the Kee's caretaker (that chubby white woman) in the torn down school, after she said about the miscarrage she experienced back then:
women: "I was there in the end..."
clive: "Now you can live to see the beginning."

one final note: what's with the feet reference. anyone notice that? Clive changed shoes to slippers in Michael Caine's house, Clive was offered Adidas in that safe house in Bex Hill, he hurt himself numerous times in the feet, he stepped on mud when he was hearing Luke was planning to kill him in the cabin at night. Kee was offered warm water to her feet when she arrived to Caine's house, the cops that were shot by Luke has a good second or two on their boots.

(minor SPOILER)

AMAZING. Story, the filming, all beautiful and to me at least very socially relevant. The torture scene (when they go into the camp) scared me for a few days - thats how well it was shot.

Remarkable movie.

I am the sort of person who likes my questions answered, but they left them open in a way i can accept.

I'd have to say it's certainly the best flick i've seen in a long time.

anyways, as I have said before in this thread, this movie is worth the watch. I loved it, and it is one of the most well done pieces of work ever made recently.

SPOILER

I thought the movie was great, and extremely well done technically. The reason I feel it wasn't a truly great movie was the ending. I think if the boat had run that lady over, that would have made a teriffic ending. The guy was already dead, so he didn't think he died in vain, but it would put more of a definative conclusion on the story.

Top 5 movies of all time for me. Deeply troubling, I haven't felt this shocked since the credits rolled for Saving Private Ryan.

SPOILERS AND THOUGHTS

This movie really highlighted our culture of violence and lack of respect for human life, especially when it comes to people that are not like us or that come from different social/racial backgrounds. While the whole concept of social unrest, concentration camps and injustice towards others has been around in movies forever, the combination of bringing the "terrorists/persecuted" in to the mix and making them seem as clueless and lost as the governments that created them was a new way to look at things. But it was the baby that stole the show. Children of men are brought in to this world as innocent beings, helpless, crying, not knowing right from wrong. The violence and destruction that man has partaken in takes that innocence away and is sad commentary on how we raise these precious beings.
I also found it symbolic that the two main male characters were self medicated with Marijuana and alcohol, which was not done by coincidence. His cousin was also sipping on wine while talking about art, while the cousins son was mesmerized by a hologram while being screamed at to take his medicine. This form of self medication permeates our culture and ties back to everything the movie was about.

A truly amazing film

Yeah, sadly something like that doesn't fly in h-wood.

I just finished this movie and I must say ... I was lost the whole time heh. I really did not understand the movie.

I did like the camera work a lot. There were some great sequences where they didn't cut for 5+ minutes.

I saw it about a month ago and felt it was really a waste of time. Incomplete and not even all that entertaining.

People can't accept that an intrinsic part of the story is the lack of answers. I can understand this to an extent, as it appears to be incomplete but in fact it just fine as it is. It's not a movie designed to coddle the viewer with tidy conclusions, and it has no intention of spoonfeeding the viewer with hollow answers to some of the most important questions we face in life. If it felt disorienting, or like a slap in the face, that's the point.

Started watching this, and I just couldnt get into it. It just doesnt seem that interesting yet. I got tired though, and once I get a chance I will finish it. Hopefully it lives up.

And OP, if your serious about the camera work, I specifically remember in one of the scenes it actually looked like the camera guy was walking as the shot got closer and closer (im pretty sure this wasnt intended).

I liked the movie alot, but not because retarded tomatoes said it was good.

Have the masses not realized that RT is no longer a valid place for independent reviews? It's now the same as any biased newspaper hackery review system.

They don't watch the movie without politicizing the creators, actors and writers background. They gave 300 a grade in the %60's. So if I were to like 300 and what it inspired in me.... I should feel like a retard since RT said it's for dumbtards.

Not every movie has to have a hippie, anti-"system" agenda to be considered great.

I'll stick with thinking for myself.

I just saw this movie yesterday with a buddy. We both left the theater in a kind of speechless 'wtf' mood.

I don't know, I left the theater not really liking it, but now when I think about it, it was okay i guess. It seemed rather slow and just kind of confusing. It's the same experience i'm getting playing STALKER. Just kind of slow, confusing, with just enough action to keep you from walking away.

I'm fine with making my own conclusions, but at least give me SOMETHING to base my conclusions off of. At least explaining why those 'friends turned enemies' betrayed them and were chasing them or whatever would have been nice. Why was sid such a prick if he was a friend of 'pull my finger'? I don't even care if you explain why all the women are infertile, i can accept that. Just make the story possible to follow.

As a film major I enjoyed the movie and thought alot of the sequences were really well done. The part with the 15 min sequence is totally a trick and very easy to do. I thought the ending was pretty poor spoilers ahead

*** I thought the ending would have been 10 times better if the boat had run her over ***

cinematography i thought was great.. about it.
characters were annoying to me and there were too many plot holes.
