moved to a new house about a week ago

we moved from a house that was a lot smaller than this one, only 2 floors...our modem and wireless router (linksys WRT54G) were in the basement where 1 of my brothers had his laptop, and the signal reached my computer, my other brother's computer, and my mom's laptop on the 2nd floor just fine. now we moved into a bigger house and i'm having trouble with the wireless. we have 3 floors and the the modem and router are on the second one. my mom's laptop, usually on the 2nd floor as well always gets a good signal. my brother's computer is in the basement and that connects fine, as well. i have my pc on the 3rd floor and my brother keeps his laptop up here too. mine has been fading in and out all the time now, when it does connect windows shows the signal strength as Low or Very low.

i've been going through all the different channels and finally found that #9 works the best out of any of them. we're running an 802.11g network with all 900mhz cordless phones, and there's nothing else that i think should be interfering. what could cause this weak signal? anything i could do to improve it? thanks.

use netstumbler to find the best router/pc/antenna placement for low noise and high signal. Sometimes moving it a few feet, or turning a box sideways can make a huge difference.

change the wireless channel

get the alchemy firmware for WRT54G that boasts a 900% increase in range
