Moved to a new city and want to make friends

I just got a new job and moved to a new city that is a fairly small town with not that much to do. I am hoping to meet some people outside of work. I have seen lots of ads for a site called adult friend finder. I am not really interested in a relationship or anything like Match or eHarmony but I'd like to make some friends to hang out with and go to the beach. Does anybody have any experience with this site for making friends?

Um....isn't that site designed to get adults together to do each other? Not things like go to the beach and hang out. *shrug* i've never checked it out though. lol

Adult friend finder will get you (not) laid, but won't make you friends. Try going to local events / park / car wash / laundromat? Find where people are and go there and mingle.

Yeah just updated it after I posted actually. I live about 1/4 mile north of Palm Bay on Babcock.

If the people at work aren't decent or don't know decent people 😛, & you're somewhat shy & geeky, i might suggest Facebook or some local forum there...

Otherwise, for those more socially inclined, i imagine the bar/club scene would get you set up.

Bars and clubs are only good if you want to meet people who go to bars and clubs. Go do what you love, and you'll meet the right kind of people there. At least, more often than you would doing something transparently social.
