Moved from a Pre to the Epic, having a hard time finding a suitable Google Reader app

Thanks to Sprint's one year upgrade I've had an Epic since launch day. It's been a great upgrade, the Epic is obviously light years ahead of the Pre.

The one thing I haven't found a good replacement for is the Scoop RSS reader I used on the Pre. Scoop behaved exactly like I would expect a Google Reader RSS app to behave. It was always dead on with my PC based reading (or was after a refresh) and I loved the side swipe gesture to get to the next article.

There's obviously no shortage of RSS readers in the Android market but wading through them all doesn't sound very appealing.

My requirements are fairly simple:

Google Reader support (I read heavily on both the PC and my phone)

Syncing that actually works right, I want it to load a list of unread crap when I launch the app and be able to manually refresh if I've left it open. I don't need offline reading/syncing, or automatic background syncing. I just want a current list when I open it and then on demand afterwards.

The swipe gesture would be lovely but I can live without it if I must. I understand that was a WebOS thing but it should be entirely possible on Android right?

gReader is what I'm using at the moment but I'm constantly being fed out of date stuff that I read 30+ minutes ago on my PC. I've turned the auto sync down to the lowest it will go but it's still not keeping up with reality.

Try Dolphin Browser HD. It has a built in RSS reader that I used a couple times.

I'm not a big RSS person, so I can't give too much intelligent input here.

I use BeyondPod for podcast but for just reading I have the mobile website works very very well and don't see the need for an app for google reader.

Newsrob is solid. Pulse is an interesting application as well. More eye candy less substance.

NewsRob seems OK, still has a few annoyances. Primary one I noticed immediately is it doesn't refresh the feed list when you return to it (removing all the feeds with no new material).

It seemed to have some similar sync issues to gReader, but I'll play with it more before I pass judgment.

Pulse is probably a little less functional than I'm looking for but I'll give it a shot.

had the same trouble when i got my android phone. ended up using newsrob, and never trying anything else. I'm not thrilled with how long it takes to update the feeds, even over wifi, but other than that it's OK.
