Move Windows Domain Authentication (Windows 2000)?

My company has 15 authorized Windows 2000 Virtual PCs where we can use our login names given to us by a customer to connect to that customer's domain under their security model.

However, part of their security model is that we agree to keep all versons of our software exactly the same as their versions. So, I need to upgrade the software on all 15 virtual pcs.

By far, the fastest way to do it would be to upgrade the software on one virtual pc and then make 14 copies.. and enter in the IP/computer name info and copy over the old domain authentication files...

Is this even possible? All 15 computers were made using a copy of the first virtual pc and then authenticated by the customer's domain administrator. I would rather not bother him to re-authenticate another 14 virtual pcs (takes a long time to launch each one and have him authenticate it)...

I am not sure it is possible. It sounds like you would like to create 15 brand new VM's with the software updated. If so, then each will have to be joined to the domain. There is no way of which I am aware to simply copy some "domain authentication" files to have brand new PCs, VM or otherwise appear on a domain.

Sysprep can do it, but that is not the proces you are using. And would still require interaction by the domain admin to allow the PC to join the domain.

I think it'll be easier all around to install the software upgrade on each VM PC. I doubt the other company's domain admin would want to have to go thru that processs everytime software changed.

Bleh.. it would take about 2-4 hours of his time to authenticate all the Virtual PCs (by my estimate since the software bogs them down and makes them run very slow)..

It would take me 20 hours+ to do every software upgrade and re-compact them. Doh.

Oh well.. it beats having to check out one of their 'secured' machines every time we want to do a program change or investigation.
