I have a Svga Monitor 16'inc i bought from a friend for $15

The problem is when I 1st brought it back home and started it up it worked but i had a problem the problem was that the monitor changed color it changed slightly greenish but u can still c wat u are doing

I cant stand it because it hurts my eyes and it looks nasty when i play computer games can u help?

I think your friend sold you a worn out monitor, they don't last forever. I bet the person knew it was going bad, that is why you got it for only $15. Actually, that is exactly what the screen looks like on a $15 monitor. Ask for your money back.

No, but there is serious high voltage. Don't even think of opening the case with the monitor on, if you touch the wrong thing it may not kill you but it will give you one heck-of-a-jolt. The monitor is dead, nothing is inside that will fix it.

The Repair FAQ is a good starting point.

If the change in color was abrupt, look for a bad conection - cable, connnector, solder, or even the circuit board that plugs into the back of the picture tube (may be glued in place - be very, very careful trying to remove this glue or you could scratch the glass and cause the picture tube to violently implode and explode). It's also possible that a color gun in the picture tube has shorted.

If the change was gradual, just use the color adjustments to compensate. Older monitors without user controls for this require turning some internal color controls, which can be very dangerous (read the FAQ for precautions) and requires use of an all-plastic screwdriver (Radio Shack).
