Move data from raid to nas????

I have 800 gig data on a 4+1 sata ll 300 vantec pcie card (2x 1 tera hdd in raid1). I want to put the drives and data in a dlink dns-321. What are my options?

Can I pull 1 drive and still use the data on the raid card to copy. Take the hdd I pulled and put it in the nas format it and copy the info over, then have it build a raid1 with the second drive?

Will I have to save info to another source then build the nas raid1 then copy over?

Why not just clone the RAID array to your NAS drive? TrueImage can do that easily. I clone my RAID 1 array periodically to an external.

The issue is I am using the drives that are on the raid card for the nas. I know when I put them in the nas it will auto format.

OK - clone the drives and have duplicates. If the NAS insiists on formatting (an odd requirement!) then let it. Then clone the duplicate drives to those in the NAS.

Or - put new drives in the NAS, then after they are formatted, etc., clone the data drives you want to the NAS drives.

And, yes - if you have RAID 1, you can remove one drive, put it in the NAS and let it be formatted. When done, clone the mirrored RAID 1 drive to the NAS drive. That'll work.
