How about that? Am I the only one who thinks these guys are absolutely crazy. Granted, these creatures are not as dangerous as big cats but they posses the strongest jaws in the animal kingdom (w.r.t. psi).
 
I was watching "Bizzare Foods with Andrew Zimern" the other night and he was in Nigeria. The locals brought him over to a pack of Hyenas and they were petting them. The locals let the Hyenas in their town overnight to eat all the trash in the streets.
 
Those pics have been around for several years but I always find them fascinating. It's a reminder of how different Africa is than the US of A, that's for sure. I can't imagine hyenas are really domesticatable, but don't they normally eat carrion, as opposed to hunting? They might not be all that vicious.

Yikes, I think my wife is going to buy a dog in the next month or two, I sure hope she doesn't decide to get one of those.

I always wondered if they laugh hysterically like in The Lion King.
I bet they most certainly do not, which is just terrible racism by Disney! For shame!
It would be most awesome if they did behave hysterically as portrayed. 😀

rather old pics. and they are used for threatening people. those things make horrible pets. bite strength is insane. and the species is seriously f*cked in the head, its like if women went roid crazy until their hoohaa became wangs. matriarchy ftl! lol🙂

Yeah, hyenas are really nasty animals. The whole laughing thing would be scary as fuck if you were trying to survive out in the wilderness.

Definitely. Through a computer monitor, or at a zoo, their noises, like laughing, is rather hysterical.
But hearing that shit in the wild? Those sounds are disturbing as all hell and I'd probably be pissing myself knowing those things are out there, laughing at me as they plot my demise.
