mov player - alternative to quicktime

Does anyone know of a good .mov player - an alternative to quicktime? I have never been able to get quicktime to work on my computer - it has always been jerky and played mpg files when I didn't want it to. Many thanks.

Alternative to quicktime = Quicktime Alternative
 
OK, I tried Quicktime Alternative, but the .mov's are playing in Quicktime rather than Media Player Classic. Anyone know how to fix that?

Ummm.. Uninstall Quicktime?

Right click on .MOV file, click properties,
where it says "Opens with" Click the "change" button
select the program of your choice to open .mov files from now on , click apply,
Your done.
