PARIS - The mother of Zacarias Moussaoui said Tuesday "my life is hell" as she left France for the United States to be present when a federal jury decides the fate of her son.

Moussaoui, a 37-year-old Frenchman of Moroccan descent, is the only person charged in the United States in the Sept. 11, 2001, terrorist attacks. The jury is deliberating whether he should be sentenced to death or receive life in prison.

"This has been going on for four years, but now my life is hell. It's hell and that's all," his mother, Aicha El Wafi, told AP Television News at Paris' Charles de Gaulle airport.

"I feel too much pain to speak," she said before boarding a flight to Washington.

The federal jury in Alexandria, Va., deliberated for three hours Monday after hearing closing arguments in the six-week trial. Deliberations were to resume Tuesday.

Moussaoui was in a U.S. jail on Sept. 11, 2001. But the jury ruled that lies he told federal agents when he was arrested in August 2001 on immigration violations allowed the plot to go forward.

************************************

The unfortunate thing that comes with making a statement such as Moussauoli was trying to make is there are those who had no part in the offense who are directly affected!

Thats true of everything we do.
But we hear alot of people on these forums crying about freedom of speech being eroded or about the freedom to bear arms....etc etc...
Or about the lady who heckled the Chinese President and threatened him....

Bottom line is we can get all upset and billigerant say things like we are doing this for the good of mankind or its about time somebody took a stand...

I would say its about time we woke up and understood that everything we do no matter how seemingly insignificant will affect somebody elses life in a good or a bad way...

Just make sure it is NOT your mom who has to suffer for your mistakes.

Bottom line and us older people know what I am taslking about...
Mom`s are what its all about and family!!

Thats the true bottom line....non of this sancrimous stuff about how you have to be allowed to express your opinion.....
Nothing is right if it affects your family, those you Love or those who Love You in a negative way!! No matter how correct or pure your motives are!!

Have a nice day!!!

*** BTW-- we will get those who say my parents are dead give me a break.....to that I say--- well they can be dead we have no proof that they aren`t after all you can be anything you want to be on the internet!!!***

"Under the Bush Doctrine, if you harbor a terrorist, you are a terrorist," Cheney said. "If you feed or fund a terrorist, you are a terrorist, and you will be held accountable."

I hope she didn't have Zacarias over for supper one night ;)

Perhaps Moussaoui should have considered the affect his actions would have on his own mother.

Had Moussaoui died in a suicide attack as a martyr of Islam, would his mother feel sorrow or joy?

No parent should have to see his or her child put to death, but then again, perhaps her child shouldn't have associated with terrorists.

Killing him would give him exactly what he wants. Making him live out his days in confinement be the best punishment, which is in the scope of options. I would prefer to do things to him that are not within the scope of options....but, oh well. ;)

I strongly agree with the idea of not turning the guy into a martyr. Just put him in prison for the rest of his life with 0 chance of parole (and none of this life sentence = 25 years crap), hell, stick the guy in solitary, he's probably safer there anyway given what other people in prison would do to him. Seriously though, at the point the best punishment would be to simply take away his freedom to hurt America without letting him become a martyr.
