I have a few in mind:

1) Func surface 1030 from everglide
2) Alsop raindrop mousepad
3) Ratpadz

Any help would be appreciated. I've heard mouse skates work well...is it worth it?

I use func surface 1030 and mouse skatez.
I think it's the best combination and the mouse skatez are really worth it.

I previously use everglide and after a couple of month the coating wears off and is not as smooth as before.

I have use my pad for almost 1.5 year and it still feels like new.

Wouldn't it be cheaper to buy an "intelli" mouse (not from MS, from someone else)? They are ~ $10-$20, and you don't need an expensive mouse pad.

I have an everglide but to tell you the truth my desk must be special bcause its smoother and the mouse moves easier on the desk than on the everglide.

usually mousepads give you a better feel and are more comfortable than the desk. Thats why you want a nice mousepad.

I have a few of the green nVidia mousepads that I bought from dhslammer. They have a large 11" circular slick surface and work well with my Intellimouse Explorer. In addition, the artwork on the mousepad is pretty sharp.
