mouse thumb button & winXP... @$$#

I cannot get my thumb mouse button to work in winXP on most games.
UT & MOHAA are the ones I really need it to work on

I have the default XP drivers with a duel optical logitech mouse.
I have tried the logi drivers but they make the thumb button lag time useless?
