Mouse stops working....?

I was working on my computer and all of sudden my mouse stopped working and froze. I could not get to the shut down option, so I turned it off, plugged another old mouse, rebooted, and this mouse did not work, I tried another mouse, which also did not work, Why do three mouse all of sudden stop working?

I went to buy another mouse and this one worked. What do you do when the mouse stops working? Just buy a new mouse, or do something on the motherboard?

I usually unplug hardware, reboot, and it auto finds drivers...is this different? Thanks.

You must unplug the computer to remove a PS2 mouse.

There are lots of things that can cause a mouse to quit working.
Bad Mouse
Overheating
Video Drivers bad
Video card problems
Currupt system files

The trick is to figure out what caused it. If your computer freezes up it will appear the mouse has quit working, when in fact the entire computer is having a problem. All it takes is one program that is causing a problem or is incompatible with some other program.

The one I was using when it froze was a DELL. I tried an HP,then finally found another old DELL that worked. All three were PS2.

Who knows, hopefully it doesnt crash too often. Like couple times a month then we can fix your issue probably.
