mouse speed resets after restart

on vista i sped up the mouse settings in the control panel but for some reason everytime i restart the settings go back. why does it do this. i have also heard of other people having settings not saved. are these problems related
 
Yep this is one of those minor annoyances that might not get fixed for a while depending on how big of an issue this is for Microsoft.

Getting a newer logitech mouse that uses the new Set Point software was my work-around...
