My mouse just started acting funny, it quits moving suddenly (randomly) and requires physically unplugging and plugging to move again.

The buttons work, but it won't "move".

Razer Lachesis 5600 dpi
Windows 8.1
MSI Gaming G45 z87

Any ideas? The first suspect is sleep or something but I haven't changed any settings and never had this problem before. My second idea is that the mouse/sensor is failing. It's strange that a reboot or unplugging it work fine though.

I reinstalled the razor drivers to no avail.

I went into the power options and changed the USB selective suspend settings to disabled. Since it was always enabled I doubt that's the issue though. If it continues I will be replacing it soon since it's very frequent and annoying.

Its a Razor mouse, some of the models have a tendency to do that, my Mamba used to do that as well. I never worked out how to fix it, support at Razor didn't manage to help so in the end I replaced the mouse with a Zowie and the problem went away. Its the mouse.

The odd thing is that it just started although I've been using it for a long time. I'll have to check out the options on the market.

Its a common failure mode of Razor mice, don't know why. On Logitech the most common failure is that the buttons start double clicking. These are just common design faults that each mouse often breaks with after a while and the companies have never addressed. Both have had the same problems with their mice for a decade across multiple models and never fix it. Seems crazy, it is crazy but I guess they figure they get more sales if the mouse fails early.
