Mouse Problems with Windows ME

My mouse some times freezes in windows ME. It will be fine then stop for a second and then go again. I have an MS Scroll Mouse and its brand new so I can't figure it out. Also when browsing web pages or My computer the mouse does something funky real quick and goes back to the top of the page. I upgraded to windows ME but now I think I should have done a clean install. Any ideas on ways to fix this.

AMD 750@1000Mhz
Abit KA7 (KX133 board)
128MB RAM

I think thats all the hardware that is relevent. Maybe I should get a USB mouse and hope that works.

Make sure you have the newest Intellipoint drivers ver 3.2. also, on MS web site there is an article about the mouse skipping you describe. It basically says that this is a known issue with the Intellipoint drivers and you need to set the acceleration back to 1/2 speed in the mouse properties until the issue is fixed.

I had the same problem with a KA7, does it freeze about every 5-6 seconds for a period of about 1 second? Try disabling PCI delay transaction in your bios, this cured it for me.

I'm seeing that most mice need ME drivers from the vendors to operate in Win ME so check your vendor's website.
This is true for Logitech products which will still work in ME but you have to turn down the sensitivity and use Low acceleration or your cursor will float all over the place.

It seems that some hardware is not as capatible with Win ME and we thought it would be. I just had to download a patch to get my scanner buttons to work correctly.
