I have a problem with my Logitec USB mouse/cursor freezing for about 3 seconds every 15 or 20 seconds while I've got either Navigator, Mozilla or IE running in Windows ME.
I run the mouse through a Microsoft Internet keyboard with two USB ports and an Epson printer and HP scanner through two USB ports from the back of the computer.
I've noticed that the CPU usage is running pretty high at odd times, but I cant seem to correlate between CPU usage, memory usage and the stuttering.
I just flashed my ABIT KT7-RAID MB to the latest bios so that I could run the 1.4GHZ Athlon cpu as per the very useful instruction here:
http://www.viahardware.com/faq/kt7/kt7faq.htm
Everything seems to have worked ok after the flash, even managed to keep the RAID, but installing the Athlon seems to be screwing with the USB/mouse.
USB has its own IRQ assigned and also shows up as working ok in the Device Manager.
I installed the latest VIA drivers as well as the USB filter but the stutter still occurs.
I even reset the bios settings to default but that made it worse.
Anyone have any other ideas?
I've tried moving the mouse to a separate port but that didnt help at all.
I'll try using a regular keyboard and mouse next.
I also recently ditched DSL for Cable.
Could this have some effect, somehow?
I'll reinstall the old Duron 800 this weekend to see if I cant eliminate or pinpoint the Athlon as the problem, but I'm wondering if anyone has heard about similar problems.
Any help/input will be appreciated.
