Mouse problem with Star Wars:Battlefront

ON the menu screens in SW:Battlefront, the mouse cursor moves down, while the mouse remains stationary. I didn't have this effect until I installed my MX1000 mouse (well, I actually haven't played Battlefront in quite a while now..).. and this does not happen in any other game.

Any ideas?

Do you happen to also have a joystick connected to your computer? If yes, unhook the joystick or disable the joystick control in the SW Battlefront menu (I am assuming this can be done).

John P, you darling. You wrote that in 2005; in 2010 I read this and remembered "oh yeah, that one game I played that needed a controller is still plugged in" and problem solved. Now in 2016 I found original Battlefront and gave it a go and knew I'd seen the problem with the cursor moving on it's own in selection screens but couldn't remember the solution. Thanks to you and anandtech for keeping these old threads alive I got to say again, "oh yeah...."
