The mouse is present because when I roll over icons it does highlight them. This issue just happened about 2 days ago. Is there something in the control panel that I need check or uncheck to resolve this problem? Please advise.

Thanks!

go into the control panel switch to classic view ( top left if u have 98 or me you dont have to do this or maybe you already have it done) double click on mouse click pointers tab and change it to the pointer you want and press ok if this doesnt work reply back.

Generally this is a video driver issue. Try re-installing your video driver.

If this is a Windows XP system you can use system restore to go back afew days before the problem happened.

Tsk, tsk.. OT belongs in peripherals - my reply is there.

Shotgun posting (posting the same topic in several sections) is a no-no on the AT Forums.

That's funny you mentioned that. I just installed new video drivers about 2 days ago. I will re-install them, and we'll see if that takes care of the problem. Thanks!
