mouse not working

i was just surfing online in windows 2k when all of the sudden the mouse cursor froze and stopped working. the light on my mouse (an intellimouse intellieye) is still on, so i know it has power, but it doesnt work at all. my keyboard still works though.
when i reboot, the cursor doesnt show up, but im not given the "missing mouse in ps/2 port" error.
any idea whats goin on?
 
I had that problem, sort of, but the light on the mouse would dissapear.I don't really have anything other than that. Test it with a regular ps2 mouse and see what happens.
 
hmm.... if i put the mouse in the usb port it works fine
but i didnt want to do that because it would always not recognize it if i reboot
maybe it will work now
