Randomly occurs when I boot the computer (winXP)--sometimes everything is fine, sometimes the mouse doesn't respond at all. Rebooting/restarting usuallly fixes it, but sometimes it takes more than one reboot. The keyboard (also logitech cordless) works fine all the time.

I try to use the "connect" button on the receiver/base station and the mouse, and all the lights flash appropriately but the mouse remains frozen. The receiver is ~12" away from all other electrical devices. Any ideas?

Are you using those crappy batteries it came with? I was having problems with those damn cheapo batteries, so i changed them and haven't had a prob since. Other than that, I can't think of anything really. My base station is about 18in away from my mouse, and the "connect" route normally clears up any kind of connection problems within seconds. Id say change batteries and see if that helps.

I know this will sound simple minded-

Make sure the cable connection for the mouse on the back of your PC is firmly seated. In fact unplug it and re-seat it.

If you are lucky, it might be the easy fix.

Either way, Good Luck!

I had a similar problem when I was on a KVM switch.

But it sounds like you aren't doin that.

I find that if I'm using USB and I switch to the USB --> PS\2 converter, it works for about a week or two. Switch it back to USB after that.

Need to replace the batteries and it only recently started flaking out on me.

Generally, as a rule of thumb though, if the receiver lights don't turn on when you first hit the power button on your case, turn it off and restart it.

If it isn't working at POST, it won't work :p

Though my problems often reside in the keyboard.

Mouse has been flawless though. Same batteries in both since I got em over 6 six months. Probably due for a change on the nonrecharables, eh?

I had this exact same problem back when I had a cordless elite duo. The keyboard worked but the mouse would sometimes just not respond. Sorry I don't have any solutions - the problem occurred few and far between, and my computer is just buggy in general for some reason, so I just sucked it up and rebooted. Haven't had any problems since I upgraded to the mx duo, but I am curious as to whether this is a general problem with logitech cordless mice?

It could be the battery. This problem occured to me initially when I just got my MX Duo, but now its fine.. Guess you gotta burn it in eh... =)

I don't know why but every system I have would make the mouse randomly not respond during the bootup of windows xp. If you have your mouse using a usb to ps/2 converter and your beyboard using usb they have to be either both on usb or both on ps/2 or this will keep happening

Ok, I've switched to the single USB connection and it seems to be better. I was using the PS/2 connections for both mouse and keyboard.

Thanks for all the suggestions!
