Mouse not detected at startup!! Help!

I had to reinstall windows to fix a Fatal OD error and now windows 98 can't dectet my serial mouse... at least not a ps2 mouse using a serial adapter(I don't have a ps2 port). It was however able to use my IR keyboard/mouse which has a serial port connector on it. I have tried more than one ps2 mouse and more than one serial port adapter.


Please help.
