Mouse lagging & locking up.

I am having issues with my WIndows XP system with my mouse lagging, locking up temporarily and just acting weird. WHat could the possible problems of this be? I have a brand new system (3700+ amd, 1gig of ram, x800 pro). All updated drivers for the graphcis card. It was working fine and it just started acting weird. Any help/advice?
 
check for spyware and run a virus scan. Most likely your system is loaded down with spyware/adware.

Tools to use:

Ad-Aware
Microsoft Anti-spyware
Spybot Search and Destroy

Post back and let us know how much you find.

EDIT: Oh and empty your browser's cache, stop using Internet Explorer if you are, and use Firefox instead. That will help keep spyware out in the future.
