Mouse & Keyboard + Remote for HTPC

Hi!

I am currently converting my current rig (in signature) into an HTPC/Gaming machine for my wife. It would be used mostly for media, but also some web browsing and Sims 3.

As such, I think I'll need a keyboard, mouse, and a remote.

The distance I would need for these devices is ~10-14 feet at the most.

I would like to keep the cost of the remote under $50.00 and the cost of the Mouse and Keyboard also under $50.00 (but this is flexible).

What I am looking for in the remote is just basic media functions. It would be nice if it could turn the PC on, but I don't really care about that. So long as it has volume, play/pause/stop, back and forward, etc. I am happy.

For the mouse/keyboard I am looking for small, reliable products. I would love to find a small keyboard that works well for this. If I were to go with wireless, I am concerned about interference with the remote, Xbox controllers, and phones. Also, what would the battery life of wireless mice/keyboards look like? I would also like to be able to access the bios if necessary with the keyboard - are wireless keyboards capable of this?

I was looking at the Mediagate GP-IR01BK Windows 7 / Vista MCE Remote Control for the remote and Logitech MK200 Wired Desktop Combo with 10' USB extensions.

If I were to go with a wireless solution, it would likely be the Microsoft Wireless Desktop 2000 Keyboard w/AES & Mouse Combo.

Any other suggestions? Perhaps smaller keyboards? I am open to getting a smaller keyboard and mouse separately if need be.

Thanks!

After speaking with my wife, she apparently wants a regular sized keyboard for the HTPC. Do you guys know of a wireless mouse and keyboard combo that has good battery life?
