My MS Intellimouse 4.0 and Aspire keyboard have been freezing. Everything else is up to date and working. I unplugged the mouse recently while the computer was on. Did I short out the PS/2 controllers on the motherboard. I have a 2 month old el cheapo ECS mobo that came with an AMD bundle. Thanks in advance.

My Intellimice used to crap out on me all the time too, and that's partly what would happen. Use another mouse for a while and see if the freezing continues.

I've unplugged and plugged in both mice and keyboards a million times with the computers running and never shorted anything out. You can always get one of those green ps-2 to USB adapters, and see if that's the problem, but I doubt it.

Btw, I gave up on Intellimouse and switched to a Logitech MX300 about 3 years ago and have had no further problems.

Update: I think the problem was a bad motherboard. May have been defective. I bought it bundled with an AMD processor for a great price. It was an ECS 755-A2. Might have damaged two WD HD's. bummer. New mobo and new Raptor. Running nice now. Yee haw!
