mouse keeps double clicking in XP

has anyone else had this problem?? sometimes when I click my mouse the computer reacts as if it was double clicked.. it happens every 4th or 5th time I click the mouse.. switched the mouse and still havin the problem? a virus maybe?

have you looked and changed the mouse properties...'double click speed' and so on?

yah... all the settings are ok... it's really odd that this is happening... I haven't made any changes to my system in the past few months

Try a different mouse?

Any time stuff liek that happened to me the mouse was broken or there was some gunk stuck under the button.
