The mouse on one fo my machines is frozen inthe middle of the screen. It's a MS USB mouse. Tried uninstalling and reinstalling, using the old cabled plug in mouse, and even the safe mode to no avail! I am running Windows XP with Norton Antivirus. Can't figure it out. I have re-booted about 50 times. The keyboard works fine. Any suggestions?

Thanks,

Karen

the wiring inside your mouse is probably ripped apart and etc. the same happened to my microsoft usb mouse a few months back. i've had it for nearly 2 yrs, so i wasnt pissed. unless you wanna disect your mouse and fix it, you should get a new one. preferably logitech, though microsoft owns also.

I was originally using a wireless USB mouse, then I tried a ps/2 plug in mouse with no luck. Can't be 2 bad mice.

Wireless? Check out the batteries.

I know I've had my share of curses because they went out on the wrong time of day (unlike my friend who died just as he was trying to exit a porn site while his parents were walking in)

[edit] Just read what you said about the PS/2.

Dunno what to say about that.

So both a USB and PS2 mouse are acting the same way. Sounds like the mouse drivers are not initializing properly. If you have any special mouse software I would uninstall it and let Windows load its default drivers.

Another question, are you plugging the mouse, USB or PS2 directly into the motherboard or are you using a KVM switch?
