mouse is lagging

my mouse some times lags and skips around.
I just bough new mouse pad steelseries and my mouse is logitech m510 wireless. batteries is ok. I reinstalled windows 8.1 but not helping.

Was the mouse lagging while installing Windows, or only after the installation was complete?

Make sure all of your USB drivers are installed. Try different ports.

See if it does any better with the Logitech SetPoint software installed.

I put it where keyboard was and it started installing and I think lag is gone now.
did not know I had to take reciver in and out of the computer for install.

Do you have the newest drivers? I have a logitech mouse and if I have the polling set too low it skips.
