Built a new computer,

Installed windows XP Home flawlessly, but when it comes to using the mouse ita a no-go. The mouse is a generic optical mouse, and is not usb.

When i plug an older usb mouse in there, it works great, but how can i get the computer to recognize the ps2 optical mouse?????

I have tried to run the add hardware setup utility, but in order to do this i need to use the usb mouse, so the ps2 is not being seen by windows......

Anybody can give me a hand? I would certaintly appreciate it!!!!!

what kind of motherboard.. i'm pretty sure in the bios of the asus p5gd1 there is an option to not look for a ps2 mouse.. maybe your bios has that option also? take a look in the bios..
