I have a Microsoft Intellimouse and I have it plugged into my USB port, and for some reason at random times my mouse will just stop responding to movement, it doesn't lose power since the light is still on. But I have to restart my computer to get it working again. Any ideas would be appreciated.

Some questions 4 u:

1: What happens if you unplug then re-insert mouse? Does it work?

2: Have you tried the mouse in a different USB port?

3: Is the mouse plugged into a HUB?

4: Do you have other USB devices? If yes, remove them.

Let us know. Thanks!

I just had the same problem with my Logitech optical mouse. Finally took it off USB and put on PS2. It worked okay for about a day, and started to freeze again. Re-installing software didn't help. Finally got an error window saying the mouse was not working correctly. I bought a new mouse. Excuse my blank post, I hit "enter" by mistake.

Mouse is on USB by itself, unplug then replug does not work. tried different USB port. Tried using the PS connector, freezes on that too. Weird thing is, I have a logitech keyboard and I had that on the USB for awhile and everyonce in awhile that would freeze with the mouse too. I put the keyboard on the PS connector and now it never freezes, that is why I don't think it is the mouse.

Hmm... my Intellimouse Explorer was doing the same thing, but only in games. It would freeze for 1-3 seconds and then unfreeze. It would do this every 1-2 minutes during games. Very annoying. But it hasn't locked up once since I moved to the PS2 port.

Have you checked the IRQ sharing? Sometimes windows shares IRQ's in a way that causes the stutter. If that's the case, you might want to move around some of your PCI cards (check the mbd manual for what IRQ goes to what slot).

I actually had this problem a while ago... my vid crd, snd crd and NIC were all on the same IRQ... I moved things around a bit and it fixed the problem.
