Mouse freezes in Windows 2000

When I use my intellimouse optical sometimes it hangs and the only way for it to work again is to unplug it and replug it into the compter. Heres the kicker: I had a Logitech mouse used on this same computer and it started to experience these problems. Thats when I bought this MS mouse which is now about 6 months old. Could my mobo be killing my mice or do I just have bad luck with a defective Intillimouse?

Any other solutions would be welcome.

Mouse hangs when in both the usb and the mosue port.

It freezes occationally when in the PS/2 port also. Dunno if its a USB issue since the mouse isnt even in the USB port at this time.

Would a bios flash really help?

btw thanks for the replies, I really aprreciate it. 😀

It's the mouse. Call MS and arrange for a free replacement. You might need to fax them the serial/model number from the bottom of your mouse though.
