mouse: dpi vs. refresh rates

Could anyone explain to me the difference between these two measurements and how to reconcile one to the other. For example, the msoft optical mice scan at 1500dpi and the boomslang 2000 at 2000dpi. On the other hand, ps2rate allows for refresh rates up to 200mhz. How do I compare these "apples to oranges" measurements? What refresh rate is 1500dpi? Thanks in advance!

DPI is dots per inch. I must say, it's better for printer resolution than anything else. I guess if you move the ball/LED an inch, X is the number of times it samples.
