Mouse Doesn't always register clicks.

Microsoft Intellimouse 3.0 doesn't always register when I click. About half the time, I have to click something a few times to get it to select. It happens both in the USB and with PS/2 adapter.

Does it sound like a driver or should I buy a new mouse? I know, I know . . . try out a cheapo mouse or something . . . I will, but still looking for opinions as I don't have one available right at this second.

Problems such as you describe are usually signs of a failing switch in the mouse. Might be worth ringing Microsoft to see if they'll replace it. The warranty on some Microsoft hardware can be 5 years (At least in the UK, but I imagine it is likely a global policy): I personally know a few people who have had Microsoft mice replaced (Intellimouse models included) after 2-3 years, without any quibbles.
