mouse and trackball at same time?

stupid question maybe..but can you use 2 pointing devices on one computer?
I have a logitech trackball ..being left handed this is about the only one i can use..

It does not have a scroll wheel and i have a few apps that need one. If i got a cheap mouse with a scroll wheel could i use both? mouse just the scroll wheel and trackball for rest?

or anyone know of a device that just contains a scroll wheel? like an add on? (similar to the
numpad add ons i have seen)

thanks

(1). Yes.
(2). Yes.
(3). I have seen a scroll strip on laptop touchpads - but no separate wheel device. Use a mouse with one or use the scroll bar on screen, or use PgDn on the keyboard.
