Mouse and Keyboard on PS3

I heard there are some converters that allow full use of mouse and kb in games. Anyone have any experience with these? How well do they work?

I saw Eagle Eye, but it's $60! Anything cheaper out there?

Also, these are usually advertised for shooters. What about other games? Say... Demons Souls? I'd love to play it with mouse and keyboard. And yes, I know 2nd one is out for PC, but I'm interested in the original.
