Hi all,

I now mounted my harddrive onto the case up side down.
which you will see the pcb board instead of the metal surface with all the numbers.
Does it matter?

I remember old days people installed horizontally.

and i have another question..
I am using SATA, does it matter if i use the hold "white" power connector instead of the sata power connector (black)

there you are.

why the need to mount upside down? if case is not dusty, then pcb board should be okay on the top.

if hd has legacy power connector then it should be okay. just don't use both power connectors.

the reason i need to put it upside down because the power cable is not long enough.

I am just using 1 power case to hook two harddrives, but at this situation, the harddrive is not mounted one on top of the other.

my case is a Centurion 534, they are parallel to either other but one is side way.

can you not have the HD's power connector facing into the slot?
i have my intel P4 box all HD's on the other side of the HD cage and it gives a good 3 to 4 inches additional to work with.

It should be no problem but again as mentioned, eventually with the accumulation of dust the hdd will die sooner than later. You can leave it as it is right now, but I highly suggest looking for a power splitter or an extension for the power connector.

Should be fine. I have 6 HDs mounted vertically and once a month I pull out the cage and check for dust. All of my fans have a mesh screen to cut down on dust so I clean those out monthly as well. Since I started using mesh screens (non-metal) the dust accumulation on my internal devices as dropped dramatically. Its easier to vacuum the screens than the HDs or stuff in the case. Just make sure you check the circuit board on the HD for dust occasionally as it can cause more heat if it builds up.
