Ok this is a stupid question, but what do you use to mount speakers on a wall. I just bought the logitech x-530. Do you use nails or something special to do it?

Use screws with anchors (plastic or metal). You drill a hole the same size as the anchor, stick in the anchor, put in the screw and screw it until you have the head out enough to go trough the bracket on the speaker. Check that it is firmly in position and that the anchor is not loose at all.

what he said...unless your wall is made of really cheap chaulky material like mine which can't hold a screw in place so gravity and the speaker tear a hole in the wall as it comes crashing down.

What you need to do before mounting anything on the wall is find the stud, or the 2x4 beams within the wall. Mark the studs, and hammer away. Buy a cheap stud finder at any hardware store.

Actually there are special anchors for this. I'm guessing you have 1/4" drywall (that's used for ceiling and special designs, but not as vertical walls). Anyways there these long screws with a 2 piece anchor and a spring. THe anchor isscrewed on, and is mad in such a position that it fold as you push it trough the whole and openes on the other side becoming much wider. This will distribute the weight on a bigger surface and it still works even if it's loose. The problem is that you have to screw this all the way or else it will let your speaker hang and move slightly. If there is a way to continue screwing it with the speaker mounted, you then have a hole sligtly larger than the screw that gets noticed.

to put it simply studs are the framework inside the wall. they are usually 2x4s that are placed every 16inches. when nailing anything to the wall you want to attach it to a stud. you could use anchors but personally i wouldnt mess with them.

Here are some pics.
1 anchor type
Another type
I can't find the real type you need for thin/hollow wallsbut this thing If you look at it, you'll see the bolted piece of metal on the thread part of this screw. That's the anchor it's actually 2 pieces that stay like that until you push it trough a whole, where they open perpendicular to the screw. At hardware stores you should find normal screw philips head instead of the big thumb/hand top as in the pick.
