Mounting Positions

I'm designing a new computer case and there is a problem with space. If I keep the CD-WR drive horizontal, then it takes up more horizontal room which I need for the motherboard. Anyway, the slot load DVD and the floppy I know can be mounted vertical. My question is can my WR drive be mounted vertical even though it's tray load?

I didn't think so at first, but looking at the tray there are tabs that grab it. I even tried putting the disk all the way to one side like it would be if it was vertical, and it loaded at normal. So I know it will go in the drive, but once it's in there do you think it would run into problems? I didn't want to take all the duct work off my current computer, turn it on it's side, and try it, so I thought I'd just ask here. 🙂

Thanks for your suggestions, BTW the drive is an Iomega Zip 650 4x/4x/24x.

Yes, it will work, thats what exactly what the tabs are for.

I just flipped my computer on it's side and the cd drive works fine (playing a music cd) with the tabs out.
