Mounting my 3 WD Raptor 36GB WD360ADFD's in 5.35" bays with 3.5 brackets

I figure raptors run hot, and right now I'm running this case:

so, i can get this Thermaltake icage hard drive mounting system for $24

Or

I can get 3 of these for about $10 after tax, micro center is right by me, and only 3% tax.

is the icage worth it?

Right now I'm running a WD6400AAKS by itself, with the 3 raptors installed, and nothing on them yet.
My goal is to have the 3 x 36GB Raptors in RAID 0, and then 2 x WD6400AAKS Drives in RAID 0, and then an External eSATA 1TB Drive for backup. the 1TB drive would be internal, except that my DVD ROM is a SATA drive, and my 680i only has 6 SATA Ports. plus I can take the drive places with me, which could work out well anyways in the end.

I am going to have to end up buying an e SATA PCI Express card as well, i'll talk about that later

u just need a cage?

PM Zepper and ask him for some assistance

He is the man to help you out.

Yeah, they do help. Its worth it. I am using a Lian Li model that is no different and it cools 3 500Gb drives.

yeah I talked to Zepper, he gave me a recommendation of this:

Not only does this one look finished, but I know cooler master products cool MUCH better than thermaltake products. this one is around the same price, and looks alot better, not to mention it'll fit 4 hard drives instead of 3.

I completed a RAID 0 array yesterday of my Raptors, and then ran HD tach. decided to pop open the case to see if i could find any temperatures/feeling of hot air, and the raptors were VERY warm, so this is a total necessity.

HOWEVER, its worth it. My HD Tune banchmark shows almost 200MB/s , and access times between 8.2ms and 8.5ms!

😀 😀

Now to get my WD6400AAKS in RAID 0! 😀
