I need to mount some fans on to the case of a XDreamer II. I dont see any way to mount the fans other than screw&bolt which won't look so nice. Is there something I can pick up or order at Radio Shack?

Better fans come with a set of special screws that cut into the plastic. There are also plastic expanding pin mounts (work sort of like pop rivets) that have come with some of the cases I've built out, but I don't know where to get them separately. Startech.com and svc.com et al. have the special fan screws - most of the SVC brand fans come with a set of screws and a chrome guard.
. It's possible that you could use those expanding plastic mounts that are used to fasten stuff to wallboard and instead of using a screw to cause the expansion, use a short piece of wood or plastic doweling. They probably come in a size that would fit in the fan mount holes.

I've got about 12 of the expanding vinyl screws left. I didn't think much of them until I used a few. They're way easier than the standard fans screws and look nice too. Try someplace like Home Depot Heinrich, and don't forget to take the fan with you. ;)

Ok I looked EVERYWHERE. Wal Mart. Home Depot. Tailor's Do It Center. Found some plastic screws but they are too long.

Grrr....

Hey Heinrich,
. I just remembered where to get those push-loc pins for fans: www.cyberguys.com . You get more for your money there - 24pk for $2.29. Lots of other neat, hard to find stuff. Hold tight to your wallet when you go there or it could be like going grocery shopping when you're hungry...

Yes, that does look like an excellent deal. And I had searched long and hard for to find that one link I had for these.

The site is not that easy to navigate and find something on.

Here's a link to the particular item.

You can most likely find these at an autozone or any other automotive parts place.. They are used a lot on cars.. But that cyberguys price looks pretty cheap.
