Mounting Clips on CPU Socket Wearing Down

mallik

Senior member
I hope I can explain this right.
I have an Asus CUV4X, and the little stubs on the socket, where the heatsink clip attaches to, one of them is getting worn down. I don't think it can hold a heatsink effectively anymore. Is there any way to fix this? There are two other mounting stubs on the socket, but they are bigger, and I'm not sure what kind of heatsink they're for. Please help.

hi,
there are plenty of heatsinks that mount using all 3 of the mounting hooks on the cpu socket like
this one
and there are also heat sinks that mount through the holes in the motherboard like
this one

any of the ones like this would let you still use your motherboard.
good luck
