For those who have mounted one on a wall, did you do it yourself?

I don't have the actual plasma TV yet (getting shipped this Sat), but I was looking over the directions of the wall mount. One step says to "put the TV on it's screen face side down with a cloth underneath to prevent scratches". This is so that the adapter brackets can be put onto the back of the TV.

Isn't putting a plasma on it's face a BAD thing? Just like laying it down on it's back? Or am I just being too paranoid?

If you put it on a nice, smooth, almost satin like cloth, it wouldnt harm anything.
But any other type of regular bath towel could scratch it.

For ours, we just sat it up on its side (like you would if you were watching it) and put the bracket on that way. It doesnt take that much force.

haha, i'm not talking about it being scratched. I've heard that laying a plasma tv down on either side (face or back) can damage it. Just a rumor?

Edit - thanks

I would not believe so.......its own weight isnt to much for it to handle (ie, by crushing anything vital)

Plus the plastic edge is usually a little more raised out then the actual screen itself, so all the force is applied to it.
You should be fine.
