Hi, I have some DVD's that I want to watch while i take the bus to and from work. The DVD's are instructional and can't be simply ripped to a mp4. When played the DVD's have a small screen on the top left with the instructor talking and on the right is a slide show that the presenter highlights stuff on etc. I can also pause the instructor and flip between slides myself.

I have ripped the DVD's to .iso format and they work fine. Is there a way to mount a .iso image on an ipad? If not, is there an app that can playback the .iso file?

Thank you very much for your help!

Apple didn't pull VLC from the App Store. Videolan themselves demanded they pull it. The VLC app was (and still is) an unauthorized port. I can't remember the exact circumstances though I find it odd since VLC is supposed to be open source and money wasn't being charged for the app. The unofficial app is still on Cydia. The biggest drawback is you have to set up an SSH server to transfer videos over WiFi. It's slower than going through iTunes.

There are non-jailbreak alternatives now. I came across one called FlexPlayer, which says it plays various files including VOB. Has a very high rating. Might be worth checking out. I'm going to try it out myself.

I think something about the iTMS violates the GPL for the VLC code.
