Does the OEM version of the SECC2 (Slot-1) PIII processor come with a plastic back plate. I have Golden Orb for this type of processor and the metal retention clip is meant for this. Anyone have experience with this combination?
[bump] I found my answer on another forum and thought I would relay the information here. Apparently the OEM version of a PIII, Slot-1 processor does have a plastic back plate to protect the printed circuit board.
You know, I have that combination, and did the GORB installation, and it was easy, but I can't for the life of me visualize it now. I suppose there was a backplate.
There is a backplate, just like on the retail boxed one, less the heatsink. You simply put the 4 pins of the Gorb thru and use a lock plate on back. It will come to you, as soon as you see it. There's pretty much only one way it can go.
