Pepsi has introduced Pitch Black II, which is the same "blast of grape flavor" now "with a sour bite". I don't know if it's widespread or if it's being tested in some areas. The supermarket I found it at only had it in 12 packs, haven't seen it anywhere else.

Somehow an entire taste testing group must have conspired to skew the results on this crap. The original Pitch Black wasn't too great, not the least bit grape-flavored, more like raspberry to me and the people I know. Now the "sour bite" just made it even worse. It's an artificial sour flavor. Not just that it's articifial flavoring, but that it tastes artificial. It also lingers quite a bit longer than normal Dew.

I'm not sure I'll even be able to finish off the whole pack.

Well, try it, since it might just be a flavor I don't like. But wait till you can get a 2 liter bottle for 69 cents. :)

What I don't understand is, what was wrong with just making "grape soda mountain dew"? Code Red was basically "hawaiian punch mountain dew". The orange one was essentially "orange soda mountain dew". After the orange one I thought, oh man I hope they come up with grape flavor because orange is okay but grape soda kicks ass. And obviously nobody actually LIKED Pitch Black enough to make it last (although I have no idea how Code Red has continued either).

Code Red is horrible.. While Limewire and the original Mt Dew are great. Yet, Code Red sticks around.. it's nuts.

Surge was totally awesome, yet it's gone now. It was a unique flavor that you cannot get again. (And I'm a Pepsi fan.. but Surge was one Coke product I really liked)

Josta.. another drink that tasted awesome and is gone.

I don't know why soda should ever be produced on a 'limited time' basis.. Why can't they just have a smaller part of the factory produce the drinks that goofballs like me like?

Oh ya.. wtf happened to 7up? It is wayy better than Sprite and Sierra Mist..

Code Red is probably my favorite Dew flavor, but LiveWire is right up there. Pitch Black was just NASTY though, I don't know how it even got out of the lab, let alone mass produced. For the record, Vanilla Coke pwns (and I HATE Coke) and 7UP is still around and kicking.

Just had 2 cans of it. Its not bad, but I didn't think the original was nasty either.

I agree with everything but, pitch black wasn't that bad.

I just got a bottle to try.

Giant Eagle supermarkets around me have a Pepsi sale. Buy 10 bottles of pepsi product for $1, and save $5. So its 50 cents a bottle.

Just got some.

I like it...

Don't taste any of this medicinal aftertaste.

Actually, it reminds me of the Jolly Rancher grape pop I got from 7-11 a few days ago.

I'm not sure that it's even comparable to the original Pitch Black.

Oh, and btw.. It's a promotional seasonal thing. They never intended to keep it on the market. It's for Halloween.

It seems to have even more of the strange purple -> blue fizz effect.

All of the remnants of the fizz at the top of my cup are blue, but any remnants of the actual non-fizz liquid part are purple.
