In the movie "The Day The Earth Stood Still" they used the term Mount Weather Flash Facility to describe an isolated testing area where in case something goes wrong they "flash" the subject turning the enclosed area into a crematorium.
So in the movie when they are all staring at the Automaton that's about to free itself and kill everyone the flash operation is commenced and the entire chamber looks like the inside of a 20,000 hp Cleaver Brooks firetube boiler on HIGH FIRE!
Boilers have sightglasses that are TINY, this "flash chamber" has HUGE picture windows. It seems to me that intense IR energy from the fire would have killed everyone in front of the windows, ignited their clothing and raised the temperature way above fire protection limits.
Of course it's just a movie...
